Product Installation
Installation of elevated lights

- Elevated lights are mounted onto frangible pedestals
- Where light fixtures have to be set in elevation and in azimuth, adjustable ball joint pedestals are required
- For unidirectional elevated lights of series EL 217, the use of adjustable and frangible pedestals type STR-N30 is mandatory
- Pedestal itself can be mounted either directly into an elbow tube or onto a base plate, single pole or mast
- Aiming or setting in elevation and in azimuth is done with the specially designed ERNI adjustment jig according ICAO recommendations Annex 14
For more details on installation of light fixtures please refer to the maintenance manual of each light type. ERNI customer support will be pleased to provide Users and Contractors guidance and advice on installation.
Installation of inset lights

- Correct position of inset light has to be determined and marked by a specialized person (e.g. Geometer)
- After having clearly marked the exact location of the inset light, preparations for drilling the main hole can be done through specialized staff
- There are two main concepts for installation holes:
- Cable entry from underneath (vertical cable entry) where cables are laid in tubes
- Lateral cable entry through a cable slot (cable entry must be done before setting base)
- Setting the base: In general the shallow base will be levelled to the surface of the pavement
- To level and fix the shallow base the use of suitable installation jigs for 8”, 10” and 12” shallow bases and equipped with markings for toe-in setting is mandatory
- Use suitable tools or jigs for proper alignment of the base
- Prior to bring in the cast resin, consult carefully manufacturer's instructions, especially in regards of ambient temperatures, weather conditions, humidity, condition of the surface and duration of hardening process
- Prepare cast resin according to manufacturer's specification
- Set the light fitting properly and in the correct position
